NOTES
2 Corinthians 4:17–18 (NKJV)
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
How many of you are facing something right now that you wish would hurry up and change?
The good news: Anything that you can see or feel is temporary.
Your situation, your feelings, your pain, your delay, they may be real, but they are not permanent.
What You See Is Temporary—What God Said Is Eternal
The enemy magnifies what you see; God wants you to magnify what He said.
Things that are seen have an expiration date.
Everything temporary is subject to change
Temporary doesn’t mean defeated; it implies in transition.
His Word doesn’t change even when everything else does.
God Uses Temporary Seasons to Grow Strength in You
God doesn’t waste seasons; He uses them.
What feels like a delay is often spiritual weight training.
Delays develop endurance; pressure produces perseverance.
Temporary pressure will produce permanent power.
2 Corinthians 4:17 — “Light affliction… is working for us.”
It’s not working against you.
It’s working for you.
If It’s Temporary, Then Don’t Give It a Permanent Response
Don’t make permanent decisions in temporary pain.
Don’t allow a moment to define your identity.
Don’t treat what you’re going through as if it’s what you’re stuck in.
Psalm 37:23 NLT
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
God orders steps, which means that He is a God of movement.
Enjoy the journey.
Declare:
“This will not break me.”
“This will not define me.”
“This will not last forever.”
Everything temporary is subject to the authority of God’s eternal Word.
If God made a promise—
If God spoke a word—
If God declared your future—
Then what you’re facing must change.
The enemy says, “This is it.”
God says, “This is temporary.”
Declare over the people:
“In the name of Jesus, everything that looks stuck, stagnant, or settled, I declare it is TEMPORARY and SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Your season is shifting. Your strength is rising. And your joy is returning.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 MSG
So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.
4 Things I Want You To Do
1. Stay calm.
2. Control your thoughts.
3. Watch your words.
4. Give Him Praise.
