Notes

Matthew 14:22-32

  • A distraction is anything that diverts your attention from God’s purpose, presence, or promises.

  • A distraction doesn’t have to be sinful to be harmful

  • A distraction is an intrusion that causes confusion.

  • Distractions will separate you from your purpose.

  • You will hear bad news, but don’t let that disruption turn into a distraction. Stay focused.

  • Don’t allow anything to distract you

  • Discipline is always required because there are so many distractions.

  • Great leaders keep everything focused. No distractions.

  • With God’s help, I have the power to say no to the distractions that keep trying to steal my purpose.

  • Peter started in faith, but began to sink when he saw the wind.

  • Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the storm.

  • Don’t let your current situation shake your focus

  • Fix Your Eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2)

  • Make Him the center of your attention daily.

  • Stay Connected to Purpose People

2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

  • The opposite of faith is sight

  • What you see may not be what you believe

  • The enemy attacks your faith with your eyes

  • Are you too busy and distracted to walk by faith?

  • Don’t let what your eyes see determine what your heart believes

Closing Challenge & Prayer

  • “What has been distracting you?”

  • Ask God to help you refocus. Let go of what’s pulling you away from Him.

  • Invite people to release distractions and recommit to God’s focus for their lives.
