Genesis 1:1

In the beginning, God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth.

  • Elohim is the very first name used for God in the Bible 

  • “God” is usually translated from Elohim, but not always.

  • Elohim - Supreme Judge, Ruler over all, all-powerful and all-knowing, Sustainer, Covenant Keeper, Creator of everything. 

Jeremiah 32:27

I am the Lord (Jehovah), the God (Elohim) of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

Deuteronomy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‬‬

For what great nation is there that has God (Elohim) so near to it, as the Lord our God (Elohim) is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?

Psalm 46:1

God (Elohim) is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

Psalm 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O God (Elohim) and renew a steadfast spirit within me

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God (Theos), so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

  • Go through Genesis 1 (Then God said)

  • Elohim is the God who creates. Eternal Creator. 

  • He is active, present, and full of creative power

  • Whenever God created, he spoke first and then manifested his power

  • To create means to bring something into existence that did not previously exist.

  • To build something with intention

  • Elohim brings order from chaos and stability to disorganized seasons of life. 

  • Elohim is more than able to see you through any difficulty. 

Genesis 1:26

Then God (Elohim) said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

  • El describes God‘s greatness, glory, power, and sovereignty

  • Elohim is plural: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Perfect Oneness

  • 1 John 5:7 -For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

  • Elohim is a creator. Words are not just for communication but for creation.  

Mark 11:12-14, 20-23

  • Elohim uses His words to create and change things. And so can you.
