Signs - visible display
Believers will speak with new tongues/languages
Every believer can pray in a spiritual language
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
Part of your weaponry is the ability to pray all prayers
Praying in the Spirit and Praying in Tongues are all synonymous and a part of your armor of God.
1 Corinthians 14:2-5
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues…
Mysteries - divine secrets
You can be sure you are speaking to God
God has given you a divine means by which you can speak to Him supernaturally
Praying in tongues is a means of spirit-to-spirit communication
Edify - build up, charge like a battery, uplift
Jude 1:20
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit
Is it possible that you are losing some battles because you're not building yourself up spiritually?
Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Speak vs Utterance:
Speak - to use your tongue to make sounds or syllables
Utterance - pronunciation; expression; speech
Open your mouth and start speaking syllables you don't know
You don't speak fluently the first time. Your father likes it. Ex: Zarek saying "DaDa"
1 Corinthians 14:13-15
Therefore, let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
“I will” means you can pray at will
Interpret - to unfold the meaning of what is being said
You should do both:
Pray in the spirit (without your mind understanding)
Pray in English (with understanding)
1 Corinthians 14:39
Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.
Encourage everyone to speak in tongues
Luke 11:9-13
So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!
