Why Is It Not Working?

Have you ever found yourself saying all the right things, confessing God’s Word, speaking in faith, and yet wondering, “Why doesn’t it seem like anything is changing?” If so, you’re not alone. In this practical message, Pastor DaVon uncovers one of the biggest reasons people don’t see the results they’re believing for. The answer isn’t as complicated as you might think.

Proverbs 18:20-21

A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

  • Mouth, Lips, Tongue

  • As fruit satisfies your stomach, words will satisfy your life.

  • Produce – to create, to make, to bring into existence, to increase.

  • What if I told you that speaking is more about creating than communicating?

  • Your life is filled with the production of your lips

  • What are your lips producing?

  • He who loves to talk will reap the consequences or benefits

Have you ever found yourself saying all the right things, confessing the Word, speaking in faith, and yet wondering, “Why doesn’t it seem like anything is changing?”

Mark 11:22-24

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

  • 3 times in this verse Jesus mentions the word “say”

  • Can you honestly say that you truly believe what you’re saying?

Romans 10:9-10

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  • Heart/Mouth Connection

  • Heart - the seat of your emotions, desires, appetites, passions

  • I think you may be confessing but not believing in your heart.

  • Results occur when you believe in your heart and speak out of your mouth

Matthew 12:34-35 NLT

You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.

  • Whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

  • Your words reveal what has filled your heart.

  • You produce what’s in your heart.

Proverbs 4:20-23 NLT

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

  • Put a guard over your heart

  • Monitor what comes in and goes out

  • Everything in your life flows from what’s happening in your heart.

How to plant seeds in your heart?

  • What are you looking at?

  • What are you listening to?

  • What are you saying?

  • What are you thinking?

How do you know it’s in your heart?

  • When you can honestly say that you truly believe what you’re speaking.

  • When you cannot picture your life without it.

  • When everything coming out of your mouth lines up with what you believe on the inside.

  • When your actions begin to match your faith. You’re no longer just talking about it; you’ve started living like you believe it.

Here’s what I want you to do this week:
Get these promises in your heart. Read them. Meditate on them. Listen to them. Declare them. Imagine them. Act like it is so.
